Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Road: Major Fake Currency Printing Racket Busted; Five Arrested
Nashik (Crime Correspondent) – Police have busted a major racket involved in printing counterfeit currency notes on the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Road. During the operation, police seized counterfeit notes worth lakhs of rupees. A large-scale illegal factory manufacturing fake currency was being operated at the location. Five accused have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the police, the accused were using a sophisticated method to manufacture counterfeit notes. The notes were reportedly treated with a special chemical to make them resemble genuine currency. The accused had also allegedly lured people by offering counterfeit notes worth ₹30 lakh in exchange for genuine currency worth ₹10 lakh. Police laid a trap while the transaction was underway and arrested the accused.
The illegal factory was being operated from a private bungalow at Talegaon on the Trimbakeshwar Road. During the raid, police seized printing equipment and other materials used to produce counterfeit notes, freshly printed notes worth lakhs of rupees, chemicals and other property worth lakhs.
Police suspect that the counterfeit currency racket was not limited to Maharashtra but had connections across the country. The operation is being described as a major blow to the network.
According to investigators, the accused used a technique in which ink was transferred onto another sheet of paper to make the notes appear genuine. Police conducted a surprise raid while the transaction was taking place, catching the accused off guard.
The arrested accused have been identified as Amareshwar Aitha, Machhindra Ghanadat, Hiraman Date, Gokul Date and Dasari Satyai.
The major racket has now been exposed. Police were reportedly shocked after seeing the method being used to print the counterfeit currency. The large-scale operation has sent shockwaves through the area.
A huge counterfeit currency printing facility had allegedly been operating from a bungalow in the Talegaon area of Nashik without attracting anyone's attention. Police seized a substantial amount of cash and other material during the operation. The action comes amid reports of counterfeit notes being circulated in the market on a large scale. The investigation has also revealed that the racket had links extending across the country.
