Mumbai (Special Correspondent): The Anil Ambani Group has suffered another major setback, with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attaching assets worth an additional Rs 510 crore in cases involving various companies of the group.

The ED has attached assets worth Rs 247.12 crore in the Reliance Communications (RCOM) bank fraud case, while assets worth Rs 263.05 crore have been attached in cases involving Reliance Home Finance (RHFL) and Reliance Commercial Finance (RCFL).

The assets attached in the RCOM case include two chartered aircraft, six land parcels and an office premises in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, in the RHFL and RCFL cases, the ED has attached two windmills in Tamil Nadu, bank account balances, fixed deposits, investments and outstanding receivables.

Following this latest action, the total value of assets attached by the ED in cases against the Anil Ambani Group has reached approximately Rs 23,100 crore.

The ED's investigation alleges the misappropriation of public funds borrowed from banks and financial institutions across the country, diversion of funds to overseas tax havens, and the use of funds for the personal benefit of the promoters and their family members.

So far, the ED has arrested 10 persons in connection with these cases and filed six prosecution complaints under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and one complaint under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

The investigation is based on various FIRs registered by the CBI in Delhi, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Delhi and the EOW in Mumbai. Further investigation into the cases is underway.
