Delhi Taxi and Tourism Transport Operators Call Protest Against Centre; March to Parliament Over E20 Petrol

New Delhi (Special Correspondent): A controversy has erupted in the country over E20 ethanol-blended petrol, with allegations that it damages vehicle engines and reduces fuel efficiency. Taxi and tourism transport operators in Delhi have announced a protest against the Centre over the issue. The Delhi Taxi and Tourist Transporters and Tour Operators Association has called for a march on August 4.

The association will march towards Parliament next Tuesday. Holding sugarcane stalks in their hands, Association President Sanjay Samrat questioned the Central government's policy on ethanol-blended petrol. He claimed that E20 petrol has reduced the mileage of many vehicles, increased maintenance costs, and adversely affected engine performance. According to him, the association has received complaints from across the country regarding these issues.

Samrat further alleged that vehicles manufactured before 2015 were not designed to run on ethanol-blended fuel. He demanded that the government withdraw what he described as the "unofficial compulsion" to use E20-blended petrol. He also accused the policy of imposing an additional financial burden on vehicle owners.
