UP: Six killed, 4 injured as car overturns in Pilibhit
Pilibhit (UP), Dec 6 (UNI) Six people died and four others were injured when a car overturned in a ditch after colliding with a tree in the Newaria area of Pilibhit district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Friday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families and directed proper treatment of the injured.
Police sources said on Friday that the accident took place late on Thursday night near Newaria police station on Tanakpur Highway when the speeding car went out of control and first hit a tree and then overturned in a ditch on the side of the road.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Avinash Pandey said that Husna Bi, a resident of Jamaur village of Khatima district of Uttarakhand, got married to Anwar of Chandauli village of the City Kotwali area of Pilibhit on December 4. He said that while they were returning back after attending the function, the car collided with the tree.
Police sources said that Munni (65), Manzoor Ahmed (60), Bahiuddin (55), Sharif Ahmed (60), Sahe Alam (35), and Rakim (11), all residents of Uttarakhand, died in the accident.
"Rahees Ahmed (47), Jabri (40), Ahmed Raza (10), and Shahnaz (30) were injured in the accident," they said.
