Six killed in fire at hotel near Patna railway station

Patna, April 25 (UNI) At least six people were killed, and 20 others injured in a fire that broke out in a hotel close to the Patna railway station on Thursday morning, a senior official said. City Superintendent of Police (Central) Chandra Prakash has confirmed the deaths of six people in the fire at the Pal Hotel near Patna Junction. The deceased-three men and three women-were not immediately identified, he said.

According to police sources, a prima facie short circuit was the cause of the fire. After the fire, the cylinder kept in the hotel also exploded, which further inflamed the fire. The fire spread to all the floors of the four-story building and engulfed the adjoining building.  Fire brigade vehicles reached the spot as soon as the fire was reported. Amidst the flames, 45 people have been evacuated, of whom two died on the spot. At the same time, about 25 people were injured and sent to the hospital for treatment. Four more people died during treatment. To extinguish the fire, eight fire engines and 50 personnel were deployed, and after about two hours of hard work, the fire was controlled.
